Rebuilding with Level Engineering and Level Design Build after the most destructive fire in state history

As mentioned in part 1, Level was awarded the opportunity to assist the Town of Superior rebuild after the devastating Marshal Fire in 2021.

Several Level Employees are working full time on this project at any given time, including collaborating with our sister construction company Level Design Build

In parallel with Level Engineering, Zach Ballard , co-owner and Level Design Build (LDB) is playing a critical role in the Town’s immediate response to the Marshall Fire.

LDB is currently providing construction services for the reconstruction of several fire damaged structures, and continually provides valuable cost estimating knowledge to our Engineers and Town Staff.

LDB has also made a huge effort to remove fire-contaminated debris on public property, hazard trees, and damaged public infrastructure. Thanks to the leadership team’s forethought and LDB’s quick response, temporary stormwater control measures have been quickly implemented and have been essential to the protection of Coal Creek’s water quality.

Notably: two existing ponds were modified to treat water downstream of major burn areas. A couple photos of our custom gabion walls/passive sand filtration system below.

This particular device works by filtering the stormwater through a sand bed and the sand bed is swapped out with fresh sand after rain events. They have been designed, built, installed, and maintained in house by Level and LDB and celebrated and endorsed by our local stormwater entities.

Level’s unique model and network of multi-disciplinary experts has greatly worked to the Town of Superior’s advantage. Whether it’s been assessment of damage to concrete, roadways, structures, utilities, retaining walls, or parks infrastructure, Level has been able to quickly provide the town valuable information to make decisions. We believe this level of service is required for success in such an environment, and our success here will lead to additional opportunities for Level in the future.

From consultation and collaboration to assessment, design, engineering and construction, Level is the full package. Let the Superior project be a reminder to everyone that if you want to do it, you have the resources available to do it!

Some of Level’s company purposes are to advance a culture of design that minimizes the adverse environmental impacts of the built world. A passion to contribute philanthropic support to efforts that benefit ecological preservation both locally and globally. Putting these purposes into action, while helping the Town of Superior is truly an honor for the Level team.
